Post 10:English Language Challenges

Hello classmates, today is the final post and I’m going to talk about my experience learning English at university. First of all, I have been studying English since high school, in that time English was easy to learn because I had English almost the whole week so it wasn´t difficult to me. In the last year of High school I prepared to take Pet Exam but it wasn’t a much focused preparation.

When I entered to university, I had to take English Exam to know what my level of English was so I did it and the result said that I have to take English 3 class, I spent all 2017 without use English so I forgot some vocabulary and abilities, but now I’m studying English in the English 4 class and it is the last post so I have to say that the experience was entertaining due that blogs and class that it was very didactic. Relative with use of blog I think that it was a very useful tool to improve our writing skill and even to know our classmates.

On other hand I think that my English didn’t improve too much due all the workload that we have and also because I was interesting in other kind of stuffs  so I dint focus too much on learning, I just focused on doing the assignments. To improve my English I plan to travel abroad to test my skills in English because I don’t use English in my diary life, only when I read something relatable with my favorites Korean groups because people that translate Korean first they do it to English and then other people translate it to Spanish, so I read in English because the translation is fastest and also because I like it.

Post 9. Changes to my study Program

Some problems that I get through in my second year of university is relative with the course of career have in the curriculum.  Like all we know, university student suffers because all the workload that they have, some student suffer anxiety, burnout and the most extreme cause end with depression,  but this is not my situation , perhaps I suffered anxiety because test and work, but now it’s not like that.

Through this almost 2 years studying Public administration, I think that the career become monotone, because in the past 4 semesters, its feels that the subjects and the continuity of the course are all the same so it become boring to me because of that I would change the curriculum of the career and I would introduce course more different from the other areas of the study of Public Administration but this is something that I can´t do it
.

On the other think If we think about workload and length of studies of the career that I study, I think that not have a lot of workload but I would probably suggest reduce the course that talk about the same think like the courses about Political Sciences and the relative with the length of studies, I think that is good and I would not make a change on it.

The Faculty facilities of school of Public Administration are not the best but at the same time are not too bad, and I refer about that the school don’t have a place that sell food inside of this, also the eating room is lack of chairs and tables but despite of that, the classrooms and library are suitable.

In addition the use of technology is good because the professor uses projector, even when we study English and statistics we use computer in the computer´s room.

Respect of Teaching methods I prefer teachers of my high school because they teaching methods was very entertaining, didactic and not monotone but the professor of university only talk and I mean a lot and become boring and I don’t understand nothing.

My future holidays

All of the holidays of my life, only I can remember 5 because I don’t go out usually in summer. In my opinion the best place to visit this summer is the beach and going to eat Korean food because of that, This year I would like to go to the beach because I miss how feels the beach air in the face and the sun in the skin, Also I would like to visit Misoya or Sukine which is a Korean restaurant placed in Patronato and eat tokkboki and patbinsu that is a Korean dish that Korean people eat usually in summer, shaved ice dessert.

If I go to the beach probably I would like to go with my family because is something that we don’t do often due we are 7 people and it’s a little expensive go out together but I think that is something that we deserve it for all the years that we could not visit a place during holidays so I if my parents tell me for going out to the beach on holidays I would said: “I am totally agree with going out on vacation.”

If I go to Misoya or Sukine, I would like to go with my two sisters because my old sister, not my fraternal twin sister, other sister, she is been wanting to eat there for a long time even if she say that Korean food is not the best of the world and its quite true but the Korean food have multiple benefits to the health and that is there where I disagree with her because to me is all opposite.

So I'm absolutely convinced that this holydays that are not going to be that same because I’m going to out finally.

Post 7: Is obesity a disease?

For me obesity is a disease because it is caused by multiple factors such as psychological and metabolic genetics, and its cure requires a comprehensive medical group, because to cure obesity not only you need to eat less, you need a change of mentality, about obesity. It is a fact that obesity causes other diseases in our body, also reduces our life expectancy and people doesn’t care about these facts and they just go on with their lives without worrying about their condition.

When I was younger my mom was obese and this was due to psychological problems such as anxiety and stress, due to my brother, and also because when she was a little girl her father had a butcher shop.

She always made the effort to lose weight but never succeeded, so she decided to have surgery, because obesity was bringing her other diseases, such as insulin resistance, tachycardia, and her heart was beginning to grow. During the process, she was treated with psychologists and nutritionists, in addition to several medical exams to get to the operation.

Now my mom maintains a healthy weight, the diseases that they had due to obesity the majority cured, and all this was due to the fact that she considered that obesity was a problem for her daily life, besides that everything she had tried for losing weight alone and I do not achieve it, she decided to seek help from professionals in the field.

Post 6: Post graduate studies

Hello mates I´m Catalina and when I finished my career, I would like to study Korean language in South Korea or maybe a collage in social sciences but here in Chile, I would like to do the course of Korean language because I think that a new language like Korean will be able to help me to reach my goals, that is work in South Korea for a period and eventually live there. On the other hand a collage in social sciences I would like to do it only because the career that I study is a social science so I think that I will be able to obtain knowledge in different areas of social sciences and complement my formation of Public Administrator.

If I have the chance and obviously the money to study any of this both subjects I would like to do it in on-site class because I think that is the best way to learn something for someone that is not methodic and organized and unfortunately is my case.

In my personal opinion a second career is not a bad option too, if you are not satisfied with your actual career or the postgrads relative with your career are not interesting for you, you always can be able to do something else that makes you happy more.

My future job

Since that we are child, people have been asked about what we want to do when we grow up? But sometimes this question is never answer. Some people like me, that they are studying in the university, sometimes think about the future, and wonder about his life and career, because we don’t know  how will going to be our future career and if you end up liking it .

If you ask me about what kind of job I would like to have, I will answer singer but this would be my dream work. I enjoy singing and this makes me happy, frequently I do it with my fraternal twin sister, but let´s be realistic I don´t sing very well and I don’t have confidence, but I like it. Obviously, I would like to travel because my dream job and it is something that I enjoy, I would like to visit different countries and learn about their culture and language and I think that is very relaxing, the moment when you are in the bus or airplane waiting for arriving, while you are reading or listening music. I know that if you are not very famous this job is not pretty profit but I’m not interesting in gain too much money, only the necessary to survive.

Actually I am studying Public Administration but in the future I would like to take a course of singing only for hobby and a course of Korean language because these two things are the most that I enjoy in my life and also I like it and I know that this future job (singer) that would like to have is not that all expected but I think that people have to do the thing that makes them happy.

My favorite song

My favorite song is she’s in the rain by The Rose and I like it because the meaning of the lyrics is deep and the rhythm is slow and relaxing in contrast with battery but they do a good job together with vocals that also are very good singers.

This song doesn´t have an important significant to me but I like to listening when I am sad coupled with I need somebody by Day6, Day6 is my favorite group and November I will go to their concert in Chile I recommend their music because Day6 have a lot of good songs, like a fan a like all but depends of the taste. On the other hand The Rose don´t have a lot of songs because they debuted this year in comparison with Day6 that they debuted in 2015 but I like the songs that they have, another good song of The Rose is Take me down and Sorry their debut song.

Returning with she’s in the rain by The Rose, like a said before the lyrics have a deep meaning and is about a person that see his precious woman suffering (she’s in the rain) and that would like it to help her, standing both in the rain.

My Favourite serie

My favorite series is charmed. Charmed aired in October 7th, 1998 and his last season was broadcasted in May 21th, 2006. This series was about three sister witches, Prue, Piper and Phoebe Halliwel that fight against the evil with their powers, Prue has telekinesis and could move objects with her eyes, the middle sister has the power of stop and accelerate time and Phoebe has the power of premonition. Three seasons later Prue die because daemon Shax kills her so then appearsPaige that is their half-sister and she is half witch and half whitelighter, the Halliwel sisters are the most powerful trio of witches that exist in the world.

I like this series because when I was younger was transmitted on Red channel so I watched every Sunday. I enjoyed a lot because the plot of every episode was funny and catching to my age. In 2012 I watched the whole series, the eight seasons, because in the past I couldn´t watch all the episodes and seasons. Now I watch the series for second time and still my favorite but I´m stuck in season 2 so I hope that in the future I been able to restart.

My Best Holiday

My best holidays that remember were when I went to Coquimbo 4 years ago due a high school travel. We visited Coquimbo, La Serena, Valle del Elqui, Montegrande and little cities like Los vilos and Tongoy. The trip longed a week and I went with my friends classmates and another people of other grade.

When we arrived in Coquimbo we visited the cross of 3th millennium and a mosque then we went to coast and we boarded a catamaran, also we went to La herradura beach and Guanaqueros beach. At next day in the night we went to an observatory and were beautiful because we could see a lot of stars, satellites and shooting stars. In Valle del Elqui we went to CAPEL and they taught us about wine process and the types of grape. In Montenegro we visited the house of Gabriela Mistral that nowadays is a museum. During our stay in Tongoy, I swam every day with my friends and when we came back to Santiago we visited Los Vilos but we couldn’t down of bus.

This trip was the best because we could visit interesting places and also because I like the north of our country and his weather.

A country I would like to visit

Since that I like the Korean Wave, I have always dreamt about to go to South Korea because I think that the culture and language are beautiful and If I had the opportunity to travel to South Korea I Would Like to learn more about the country for example to learn about the different accents of Korean language, learn How to cook Korean food, and also I would like to learn the habits of the Korean Society. I knew about South Korea through the Korean Dramas A.k.a Doramas since 6 years ago when Mega channel broadcasted Boys over Flowers.

I would like to visit several places located in the capital Seoul Like Gyeongbokgung Palace, Myeondong, Bukchon Hanok Village but as I have written before I am fan of kpop so probably I will visit all the Korean entertainment agencies to see my favorites groups and I will not have time to visit Gyeongbokgung Palace nor Bukchon Hanok Village.

My First goal is study Korean language so I hope, once the university is finished, to be able to travel to South Korea.

Hello, Welcome to my Blog!!

My Blog experience

I think that the experience was great and very useful because we could improve our writing skill in English and also we could to know our classmates and their likes in relation to hobbies, music, movies, subject, and etc.

Two years ago my writing skill were good than now but it is because now I do not practice English and I do not use it anymore.  Due to the blog I could to improve my writing skill in English and vocabulary but I keep thinking that my writing skill in English never going to be better than two years ago if I do not practice more.  In my diary life I watch kpop’s news, variety Korean program, Korean reality shows in English so I think that my reading comprehension is much better than my writing skill.

I would like to suggest that the blog include interviews of friends, family, important people in our life, another suggestion is include story and poems that we has created and as last suggestion I would like that the blog include biography of important people of different areas like arts, music, and science, etc.

I liked to know more about the preferences of my friends and the time that I spent writting the blog was the best of the day.

K-POP!

Hello everyone!!

Hello everyone, today in this blog I’m going to write about my favorite music.

My favorite music is k-pop; I knew about this genre through the drama “boys over flowers” that was broadcasted on MEGA´s Channel in 2012. The main cast was integrated by the actor Lee Min Ho who played Gu Jun Pyo, the actress Goo Hye Sun who played Gum Jan Di and the idol Kim Hyun Joong who played Yoo Ji Ho, I liked too much this character so I researched about the actor Kim Hyun Joong and I knew that he belonged to a Korean Idol group.

My first k-pop song that I liked was “because I´m stupid” aired in the drama Boys over Flower by SS501, the Kim Hyun Joong´s group, but my first favorite k-pop group was Super Junior and I knew them for the song Mr.Simple, which was a Hit. (Hey! I´m Mr. Simple~)

Now I like several k-pop’s groups like Dreamcatcher, Pentagon, The Boyz, B.A.P, KARD, Day6, Winner, N.Flying, CN.Blue, Ft.Island and also the legends Super Junior. I like too much their music and I listen to it all the time that I can.

Statistics

In this post I am going to talk about a subject that I am studying this semester, the subject is Statistics, I have 6 more subject but it is the funniest. I enjoy to learn Statistics because in class we work with computer and we use Stata that is a statistical program. the class have two section, first the professor teaches the subject and then in the second section we exercise it, sometimes we exercise the whole class and the teacher answers the questions and helps us. In the last classes we have been studying coefficient of correlation, chi square, coefficient of determination and linear regression. I like study because is not too much theory like others subject that I am studying this semester and also because when we exercise statistics in the class the environment is calm, which helps me to stay focus and learn fast but the best part all of this is that I am with my friends that always help me when I need help to solve a difficult excursive and is gratifying when we solve the exercise together.

A Career-related website

In this post today I’m going to write about a career related website. This website is https://www.gob.cl have sections of news related with public administration, procedure and benefits that can be done in ChileAtiente, a section with all institutions of state, like ministers and public services, below of this section are the campaigns of government and the final section there is information about Chile to tourist and immigrant, but at first sight we can see a web search and below of this we can see a section of the most prominent in the Chilean public administration. I haven´t visit this website yet because I knew it yesterday in class of Dynamics of the Chilean Public Administration but I hope to visit it very often from now on. I liked it because I found it very useful in relation with all public administration website that I know and it can help to the people on basic issues related with the government and public administration and also because it is just a click of the hand and his page structure is easy to find the information that you need.

My favorite movie

Today, I'm going to talk about my favorites movie, fabricated city is a science fiction korean movie of 2017. First of all, I like this movie because Ji Chan Wook, he is my favorite actor and when I look at him my eyes shine because his beauty and acting skill but also I like it because is a science fiction and deal with power abuse in the society. He played Kwon Yoo an unemployed gamer that was accuse for a crime that he did not commit, someone tries to accuse Kwan Yoo through the creation of false proofs to protect influential people, with the help of his gamers friends and a mystery hacker woman, They try to prove his innocent to be a free people and not a fugitive men of justice.

I recommend this movie to everyone who likes science fiction movies and want to know more about Korean movie industry and want to improve their listening skill of Korean language. 

A walk with my friend

This ethereal photo was taken by my friend Paola in June 30th, 2018 when we were going to our home after we visited a k-pop exhibition. The advertisement was in Metro´s Catholic Station of Santiago city, it was a gift to celebrate the 5th Anniversary of BTS from ARMY Chile, the Official fan club of BTS in Chile and in the Photo appeared me Catalina with BTS’s Advertisement. I Liked the photo because that day was amazing and enjoyed every moment with Paola and also because was my first time in a k-pop´s exhibition in 6 years since I like K-pop music.

In the k-pop exhibition were a lot of people who sold merchandise of k-pop groups, Korean food and even we went to a meeting of Dreamcatcher and BTS. Paola bought photo cards, stickers, nice earrings and food. I was happy because I could go with her and also because she asked to me.

Bread and Roses film Review

Yesterday I watched Bread and Roses Film and I´m going to talk about the film in this review. The film Bread and Roses have a great message about the immigration in United States and mistreat against immigrants in their work. I personally didn't like the film because is not my favorite type film.

While I was watching the film the character who caught my attention was Sam Shapiro because he was a great person that helped immigrants being him American netizen.

As I said before about the film’s message this was amazing and I liked because it was interesting and inspiring and the fact that it based in a historical strike, Justice for janitors helped to that. In the other hand I didn’t Like the character Mr. Perez he was a bad person and his behavior towards Janitors was the worst.

My favorite scene was when Rosa told the truth about his life in America when her was younger to Maya because it was a emotional moment between sisters. 

My favorite Technology

My favorite Technology?

Hello my friends, today I am going to write about my favorite piece of technology. Well my favorite piece of technology is my smartphone, I received last year like a birthday gift because my old smartphone was broken and I couldn’t fix it.

I use my smartphone all day. I use it when study for exam, read something related to Korean wave, also I watch videos about curious facts and kpop’s MV. I can’t go outside without my smartphone because I feel disoriented and I can’t check the time.

I like my smartphone because is multi-purpose and small but the best thing about this piece of technology is that I can communicate with my family to long-distance when I’m not in home.

Sometimes I think that I can’t live without music or smartphone but once two years ago I didn’t have smartphone and I did well.

Why Study Public Administration

Why study Public Administration?

When I was younger my dream was to be a singer , a star. I like to sing is my passion but here in Chile the career is not profitable So I changed my dream And I thougt in Physical Anthropology because in that time I liked the series Bones and everything  related to Investigation and It was the most suitable option in my case because I was not good in Science.

The final desccion I made in my last High School year when I went to a career exhibition and a freind told me that Anthropology is not a good or profitable career and the field is small So I chose Public Administration My second option.
Today Im Studiyng Public Administration at the University of Chile and the experiance is good but I hate toTravel everyday.
My ideal job is to be a fan 24/7 of kpop groups and do this all my life.

Hello everybody, my name is Catalina Silva. I was born in Santiago, Chile but nowadays i am living in Colina City with my two parents and  three siblings, specifically my mother, father, a brother and two sisters in a sweet house. I spent my early life in San Felipe and then moved to colina at the age of 8.I studied in three primary school , Jose de San Martin School, Santa Maria of esmeralda school and Abersan School,I did my secundary studies at the liceo bicentario of Colina where I did good friends and happy memories, now I study public administration at the Univertity of Chile and I travel every day in the morning to come here, somedays with my fraternal twin sister. 

I like to listen to kpop music, watch korean varieties shows and spend the time with my family and also eat like a good taurus person.
